We spent a tropical night in the plane in Rendani. We were up just before dawn to get ready to go. It was shortly after sunrise that we were in the air, and crossing the ocean to our first stop at Bislig in the Phillipines. The weather was clear as we left, and for most of our cruise at 10,000 feet, too. Then, about 2 hours out of Bislig, we ran into an endless wall of thunderstorms. They were with us right up through the landing at Bislig. At least they didn't give us too much of a problem. We landed safely, although the approach was a bit jarring, and immediately refueled, went to the bathroom, and hopped back into the plane.

The storms let up enough that we could take off without waiting. We climbed up through the turbulence and headed again to the north, this time bound for Taggat, on the north shore of the Phillipines. The endless line of storms ended, and the weather was beautiful for the rest of the flight. We still had several hours of sunlight left for flying, so we decided to get in a little more travel. Instead of going to Taiwan, our original plan, we set out for Japan, which was at the very end of our range. There are also a lot of small islands with airstrips along the way, in case we decide to stop.

It was about 2 and a half hours into the last leg that we realized we should have gone to Taiwan, as we both were tiring quickly as the sun started to set. We had about 45 minutes of daylight left, and found Kumejima, an airstip on a small island, was about 45 minutes away. We started a slow descent, and were cleared to land on the ILS runway just as the sun dipped below the horizon.

We're going to settle in and sleep early tonight. I want to get up before sunrise so we can star towards Tokyo, where we'll do another day of sightseeing.
