Day 16
Thursday, 8 November, 2001
The new route takes us south over Indonesia, where we'll actually get to cross the equator. Going south also means a lot more daylight for flying this time of year. The first leg is south to Achmed Yani, and after a quick refuel, it's over to Tambolaka, just a few hundred miles from the northwest coast of Australia.
There really isn't much to report today. The weather was great. There was a lot of flying over water. There are some decent sized hills in Indonesia, though, so we had to pay attention when flying over land.
We will spend the night in a nice little hotel near the airport in Tambolaka. Tomorrow, we head to Perth, down the western shores of Australia.
