It has been decided that since no version of the "mars face" photo can be released that doesn't look like a face, the photos that are released will have the large pointed ears airbrushed out.
More troubling is the premature release of the "Martian Bridge" photo. [It is to be noted that this particular photo is a digital copy of a postcard found on the Moon. Addressed, oddly enough, to Carl Sagan.]
An aside:When Admiral Piri Reis first sailed from Atlantis to Mars by way of the Bermuda Triangle, there were no raccoons living on the planet. It is thought that perhaps the invaders we now face might trace their lineage to stowaways aboard the Admiral's ship.
