this set is not available on the Internet for free. Do you need something
specific (a form, some pages from a particular volume)? If you live or
work in Morris County we can fax/mail it to you. If you need to check the

I was looking for a hotel that would be close to the museums and tourist
sites. I would like one that is in a safe neighborhood as well. Also, I
would like to go to the beach if we have time. Does Barcelona have nice
beaches? Do you know of a nice hotel by the beach or would it be
better to stay in the city area where all the sites are?

The 2001 edition of the Power Boat Guide has a review for the Bayliner
2859 Ciera Express (originally called the Super Classic 28) on page
69. This boat was manufactured from 1993-1999. Is this the review you
need? If so, give us your fax number or address and we will be happy to
send the page to you. The other Ciera model that is close in size is the
Bayliner 2858 Ciera Command Bridge.
The EBSCO Masterfile magazine index contains 10 articles that review
various Bayliner Cierra boats--none for your exact model--but you might
want to take a look. You can access this database by going to this Web
page:
http://www.gti.net/mocolib1/remote.html
click on magazines, enter your library card number (it's on the back of
your card, don't type spaces between the numbers) and your in! Just enter
the words bayliner and ciera to pull up the list of articles.
Let us know how you want us to send the Powerboat Guide review.
> query: I recently e-mailed you and you replied re: Bayliner Ciera Classic 2859, which is a powerboat that may be listed ib the POWERBOAT GUIDE published by AMERICAN MARINE PUBLISHING, INC.. You didn't indicate if you wanted grants for conservation of your brothers

best starting points
are:

Maryland State Arts Council

Also check the National Endowment for the Arts

There is also a "visual arts fellowship" administered

for
students pursuing art studies, but these folks might be interested in

I'm not sure how I accessed your website but thought I'd at least ask if you
are aware of how I might be able to find copies of old high school
yearbooks.
Example of what I'm looking for is 1969-70 Garinger H.S. in Charlotte, NC.
Thank you for any suggestion you might have.

Your best bet for locating HS yearbooks is the local history collection of
the public library in whatever community the school is in. For Charlotte,
you can talk to the librarians at

To find libraries online for any other communities, start at

On behalf of the students, thanks for your prompt answers. I will pass the information along to them later today, but they probably won't need material faxed to them (it's fourth grade and the people you mentioned in your second email will be great additions to their report). If you know of any currently "famous" people associated with Morris County, they'd love to know that, too. Thanks again for all of your help.

I'm doing a company profile on Wyeth-Ayerst, the subsidiary of American Home Products. By any chance, could you fax me a copy of the profile on Wyeth Ayerst that Dorland's (or another industry directory) might have? I realize that Wyeth = 80% of AHP's income, but I'm really looking for info *specific* to Wyeth -- I've checked, hoovers, their website, EBSO, InfoTrac, last 2 wks. of WSJ and NYTimes .. there's really not much except for product pipeline and some litigation stuff (kind of the "usuals" for the industry). Our focus is their supply chain, manufacturing, technology, earnings, that sort of thing. Thank you!

Answer #1
I'm not sure I understand your question. If you mean what is reference
service provided at libraries, I can tell you that this is the department
you would go to for information: you can ask a question and/or you can
ask for help in using books, magazines, the internet etc. You can also
email us your questions. The reference department is a good place to
research any topic. Do you have a specific question? We would be glad to
help.

would like us to mail the information, please supply your address.
Michael Ende's Lenchens Geheimnis is 62 pages long as has been published as a separate book (in German). I do not find any short story collections that include this particular work. None of the libraries in Morris County have a copy of this book, but we can arrange to borrow a copy for you through inter-library loan. To arrange for the loan call our Reader's Services Department (285-6970)--they will need your library card number and address (they send you a card when the book arrives). If you prefer you can send us this information via e-mail and we can fill out the paperwork for you. Let us know if we can do anythings else for you!

struggling to find
the information on the internet and not knowing where to go. Yours is a

The information you seek is tracked and reported by the Tube Council of
North America. This industry organization has an extensive Web

If you want to track trends and news reported in business, industry and

Our library has several other business databases you can use to check for

According to the General Business File database the SIC (Standard
Industrical Classification) that covers laminated tubing for packaging is
2671. This SIC also includes several other plastic laminates, so it is
difficult to extract only those companies that manufacture for a specific
product application. The General Business Fiile database contains 17
articles relating to toothpaste packaging; 648 articles total for this
SIC. You can also use this database to access investment resarch reports.
I printed one article for you--"Tube lines," Packaging July-August 1999. It is an excellent overview ot the technology and industry in Europe. Some of the major European players are mentioned. Will be happy to fax this to you, please supply your number.
You might also want to check out the Web version of Packaging Digest magazine. Select 'application guide' and check the information under flexible packaging, personal care.

We received your request for article reprints. In order to process your
request we need two more things:
1. The titles of the articles.
2. A per article fee limit. Please be advised that most medical libraries
charge $10.00 per article request. We need your ok on this before we can
place the order. You can specify a lower dollar limit but it
might affect our ability to obtain the material you need.

1970s...There are a couple of possibilities:
--the painting was done as part of the Federal Writers Project in NJ,
as an illustration for the WPA Guide to NJ
--it is "just" a painting done of the Arch Bridge in Boonton, which is
rather well known.

to general notice in the 1930s and was popular again in the 1960s, with
the Kingston Trio, the Weavers (Pete Seeger), Peter Paul and Mary, Joan

"Cracker
A name first used in N. America from the mid-18th century onwards, for a
plain, unsweetened, dry, hard, bread product; thus corresponding to the
part of the domain covered by the wider English term 'biscuit'. When
crackers are broken into pieces they make a cracking noise, which accounts
for the name. Crackers may be leavened or unleavened. Those of the former
sort were baked by a particular method which called for a dough leavened
with bicarbonate of soda (hence the term 'soda cracker') and left to stand
until pockets of carbon dioxide formed in the mixture. When biscuits of
this dough were placed in a very hot oven they rose quickly, giving the
characteristic texture. Unleavened crakers may be made from flour and
water only (as are matzos) or with the addition of a little salt. Some
examples of this sort are the small oyster crakers, used on top of seafood
chowders, and the crackers known as ships' biscuit..."
---The Oxford Companion to Food, Alan Davidson (p. 222)
According to the Encyclopedia of American Food and Drink, John F. Mariani
(p. 331), what we know today as the modern 'oyster cracker' is a direct
descendant of the Trenton cracker:

If you live in Morris County, you just go to your hometown library, get a
library card from them...and that is what you use here and all over the
county. A list of the county libraries is here if you want to call the
one in your town and ask about getting a card.

query: I lived in Bergen County so I have a library card for Bergen. I wonder can I used that card in your library? If not, I work in X. Can I apply a county library card in your library?
Come over sometime and get a card from us, at our circulation desk.
We give cards to anyone who works in Morris County (bring something that
shows you do work here..paystub, ID badge from employer, whatever). With
a card from us you'll be able to use the remote databases. No, access to
EBSCO and other products is not possible with a Union Cty card; sorry.
Let us know if we can help with anything further.

Bill Communications says no, Trade Shows is available only in book form,
not CD or online. Someone can come over and xerox the pertinent pages
(ask for receipt, for business purposes, at the reference desk.) And/or
let me have your fax number...I'll send over the page from Trade Shows
that describes their regional Directory of Conventions..the Northeast/
Midlantic edition seems perfect for your purposes.

Facts.Com not available for remote access for Morris County library card
holders. You will need to use this database in the library. You can access
several databases with your Chatham card. The EBSCO masterfile magazine
database is especially good for researching current topics. Many articles
are available full-text from the computer. You can access these databases
from this page:

Remember to enter your library card number without the spaces.
If you need something from Facts.Com right now, let us know. We can access
the database for you. We can fax/mail up to 10 pages.

The Jobbank Guide to Employment Services lists agencies by
specialty. There are 5 pages listing agencies filling technical/scientific

The tradition of eating crackers/hard bread products with soup (especially
chowder) dates back to ancient times. Crackers (common crakers, pilot
bread, ship's biscuit, hardtack) could be stored for a relatively long
time and added both bulk and nutrients to soups and stews.
"The Trenton cracker was first made in 1848 by Adam and John Exton, two
English immigrants who created the item in the Trenton, New Jersey,
bakery. They called it the 'Exton Oyster and Butter Cracker and Wine
Scroll Biscuit'...It is a traditional eastern cracker used in oyster
stews."

Here is my research question...
How did America Online (AOL) evolve from a small internet service provider to
the large, multimedia company that it is today? I am looking for specific events,
company policies, promotionals, and other indicators of growth. For instance, I
know that AOL grew to become larger than Prodigy in a matter of years. All I
need are some evidences, proofs, and trends that show how this happened.
I will use this information to create my own pathfinder. It is part of a major
graduate-level class project. In fact, I chose to consult the Internet Public
Library because my instructor has encouraged the class to see how online
reference operates.
Currently, I am a student working towards a degree in library science. It
will hopefully help me enter a world of successful, specialized careers.
I am currently looking for more sources that I could use. Only a few sources
have proved useful, such as Hoover's Handbook of American Business and one or
two online guides to companies and their histories. If any sources with
specific, coherent information on this subject exist, let me know.
Thank you.
query: I need to find a newspaper article from about 2 years ago. But i don't know the title, what newspaper it is in or even an exact date.
We will be happy to help you find the article you are looking for. What
can you tell us about it? Did it reference a particualr
person? event? company? Where did you hear about it? Any clues you can
give will be helpful.
Thank you for responding so quickly. I know that the name X was in
the article and I also know that it had something to do with X
arrested in morris county and .....
I found three articles on Thomas Meeker's arrest:
[Morristown NJ] Daily Record Oct. 7, 1998 p. A3 [title]
[Morristown NJ] Daily Record Oct. 10, 1998 p. A4 [title]
[Newark NJ] Star Ledger Oct. 10, 1998 p. 16 [title]
Would you like us to fax/mail them to you? If so, please give us your
contact information.
Thank you so very much for taking the time to look this up. This is
extremely important and I am very happy with what you found. Please fax the
articles to me at. Again Thank You.

I'm looking for a January 1987 issue of Yankee Magazine.
There is an article in it about the Eddy Brothers of Chittenden, Vermont and information about the farm house they lived in. Unfortunately I do not know the title of the article. I was just given this information by a friend.
I have called Yankee Magazine and they no longer sell back issues of the magazine and could not give me any information. I would appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks,
Yes! Thank you.If you have the article I am looking for that would be
wonderful.
All I know about the article is that it is on[ ...] we are looking for all

Our library's Web site does not have a list of all of the compact discs
we own. We do have one page that lists spoken word on campact disc
(fiction, non-fiction, poetry and humor). YOu can access it here:
http://www.gti.net/mocolib1/music/spoken.html
You can use the online catalog (http://web2.morris.org) to identify
compact discs in our library by selecting Morris County Library and
running a keyword search with the term "comapct disc." If you want to
know if we own a particualr title or group add that to the keyword box. If
you want to limit it to music CDs, go down to" optional search limits"
and select "musical recordings" in the first box (on the left). CDs owned
by the Morris County Library will be highlighted in green. I
will ask tomorrow if there is a more efficient way to run this search.
If you have any questions about our CDs or have trouble accessing our
catalog let us know.

query: I have a few, pls:
1. how do I obtain a Patron ID so I can use EBSCO?
2. do you have access to subscription databases such as Hoovers?
3. I do a lot of corp research internationally both for personal use and business use -- what searchabe databases does the library have access to which would contain international corporate information?
I have identified many online resources but many have high subscription fees which are not practical for my limited use.
THANK YOU!!
Date: Fri, 17 Aug 2001 11:34:54 -0400 (EDT)
>>1. how do I obtain a Patron ID so I can use EBSCO?
This is the 13 digit library card number (barcode) on the back of any
Morris County
town library card. You get the library card from your hometown library. If
you don't live in
Morris, you can get a card from us, free if you work in Morris, for $50 if
you live and work
outside of Morris.
>>2. do you have access to subscription databases such as Hoovers?
We have ReferenceUSA and General Business File. The latter is particularly
good,
because it includes Investext, reports about industry segments/companies
from
investment brokerages/houses.
>>3. I do a lot of corp research internationally both for personal use and
business use -- what searchabe databases does the library have access to
which
would contain international corporate information?
Nothing specifically international. As noted above, GBF does pick up
overseas
companies/markets. The Directory of Corporate Affiliations: International
is an
excellent book source. The overseas stock exchanges (London, Paris,
Frankfurt,
Tokyo, etc.) are online and in many cases you can retrieve company reports
just as you can from SEC/EDGAR. We also have DUNS Europe and Asia, but
these give just the basic business profile.
For databases held around the county, in different libraries, see
http://www.gti.net/main/cdsurvey.html
Hope this gets you started.

Monroe in 1820?
We have the 1830 NJ Census (federal) and we have some church records
and lists of wills and estates inventories. Who particularly are you
looking for?
Monroe is in Middlesex County. It was a small farming community, has
become a sprawl of senior citizen retirement complexes. I'm not sure how
much town history they have retained. This is their information on
genealogy resources

query: On a normal quarter mile running track, what are the lengths of the different lanes?
We're sending the architectural standards/schematics for building a
quarter mile track. We haven't found the exact lane lengths yet..it
depends in part on whether it is a six or eight lane track. This site
discusses marking the lanes for staggered starts to even out the curves.

query: I need a French wedding song. One that can be san in French and then echoed in English.
Do you have any suggestions?
We were able to find some french wedding music in a book of sheet
music we have titled, "Anthology of Modern French Song", by Max
Spicker. The titles are:
Le Fidele Coeur (The Faithful Heart)
Je ne veux pas autre chose (Nothing I ask thee to give me)
Ariette (Were I sunshine, I should come)
If you have a fax machine I would be glad to send you this information, or
I could mail it if the time frame would accept that. Or perhaps the
titles will suffice. Please let me know which of these options you would
prefer. Thanks again.
Thank you SO much for your response!! I wasn't sure if I would even get one!! I REALLY appreciate it. I live in Arizona, so either of your options would be long distance, but I would gladly pay for either. I've listed my fax number and my address, so which ever is more conveinient for you will work for me!!
Thanks again!!

>>how would you solve the problem of teenage dropouts
You are talking about school dropouts? 16 year olds who decide to work
rather than get a HS diploma? and is this within the US? or
internationally?
You really need to know or hypothesize why students are dropping out. If
it is to work and increase their family's income perhaps your answer is
some program that would help the family have more to live on so students
could stay in and finish school.

Many thanks for the pointers to the newspaper sites. They are down at the
moment but it looks like an excellent source.
I had already looked at the company sites you mentioned. Eberhard Faber de
Venezuela, it turns out was merged into Sanford Faber de Venezuela in 1998.
The Faber companies are related which made finding that particular
subsidiary tricky - but it is separate from the Faber Castell - what an
empire!
Many thanks again for the search tips!

>> What is the distribution and income levels in Libya?
Have found nothing about Libya in:
Intl Monetary Fund, Intl Financial Statistics Yearbook
Intl Labor Organization, Yearbook of Labor Statistics, 2000
UN Development Program, Human Development Report, 1998
Europa Yearbook gives the Libyan GDP and what segments make it
up, by percent of money contributed and of workforce employed.
Sample: mining contributes 25.8% of the GDP and engages 2.5%
of the workforce. Let us know if that information helps you at
all.
Seems the Libyan Mission to the UN may be your best bet for

Marianne Kranz, our library's book club facilitator suggests these books
for your club:
Satanic Verses, Salman Rusdie
---well known, easy to obtain
The Spider's House, Paul Bowles
---would be our choice for our book club (though Ms. Kranz has not read
this book; easy to obtain and Mr. Bowles is a good writer)
The Mahadi, A. J. Quinnell
---not in print, can order throught ILL or purchase through bookfinder.com

query: Our patron would like to know if
an edition of "Call of the Wild" by Jack London exists that has
been especially edited for grade-school age children (5th grade).
According to LIBRIS there are several editions of this book edited/adapted
for younger readers. One of them is owned by Pequannock Library's
Children's Dept. and is currently available for circulation. It is adapted
by D. J. Arneson and is part of the Young Collector's Illustrated Classics
series. This book is out of print.
If your patron wants to purchase an adapted book these publishers have
items in stock:
Scholastic Paperbacks/2001 (800) 242-7737
Simon & Schuster Juvenile/1999 (800) 223-2336
Demco Media Distribution/1996 (800) 448-8939
It would probably be a good idea to speak with these publishers before
ordering to ensure that these books are indeed adaptations (LIBRIS says
they are for grades 3-6, but does not list another author/adapter.)

We also have some church records and 19th century atlases, which include
the names of property owners on the mapping. Who are you looking for, in
what time periods? We can look up entries, print from the film and mail it
