Biography and Genealogy Master Index (searchable from home)
BGMI is a
comprehensive index to current and retrospective biographical dictionaries, periodicals
(Biography Index) and who's who type books. Name searches will result in a bibliography of references about
the designated person. Birth and death years are sometimes supplied to distinguish between people with similar names.
Full-text biographies are not available from the database.

This full-text database accesses information from periodicals, academic & professional journals, research reports and a variety of consumer health publications. Coverage begins 1978; updated quarterly.
Designed for medical pratitioners, this database provides 200+ full-text journals.
Ebsco's HSP is now split into two databases: Consumer edition (160 journals/17 full-text publications--good way to learn about new treatments and procedures, many items are written in *plain language* or report clinical studies that are referenced on the news) and Nursing/Academic edition (500+ full-text and indexed articles--includes extensive bibliographies and additional resources for further study.) Coverage begins January 1988.
Reference USA's database lists heath care professionals by specialty and location. Profiles include brief biographical data (Medical School, year graduated), hospital affiliation, and number of patients.
The National Library of Medicine's database contains citations to articles, reports and conference proceedings. Medline is available free on the Internet.
Information on 1000+ natural medicines. Reports include alternative names, scientific names, safety, effectiveness, mechanism of action and active ingredients, adverse reactions,
interactions, durng influences on nutrient levels and depletion, dosage and administration, references and brand names.

Ebsco's magazine database provides indexing for 2000+ journals convering a wide range of general, consumer, academic and technical subjects. Articles from many of these journals are available full-text directly from the computer. Information is searchable by keyword and may be limited to specific magazine titles or only full-text items. Coverage begins 1975.
ProQuests's Research II magazine database indexes 1,000 popular publications. Articles are searchable by keyword and may be limited to specific magazines. Abstracts and selected full-text articles provided. Coverage begins 1971, varies by publication.

DeLorme's map making database is an excellent tool for creating detailed maps of specific areas. Maps can be drawn by telephone area code, zip code, town or neighborhood. MUSIC
International Index to Music Periodicals
Database provides indexing and abstracts for 430+ international music periodicals, plus full text for 110 journals. Both
scholarly and popular periodicals are covered. Excellent source for music educators, performers, students and general public.
Coverage varies with publication. Most full-text are from 1995-present.
Tom Lord's database includes over 31,000 band leaders, over 160,000 recording sessions, over 900,000 musician entries and over 900,000 tune entries. Version 6.0.
Cravenplan's database contains informaiton about 155,000 albums and 183 singles released by 44,000 artists on 11,000 different record labels. Data is searchable by artist, album, track, country of origin, instrument, record company and year of release.

The OED is considered one of the most authoritative reference sources for the
definition and history of the words in the English language. This database can be used to locate word and phrase origins, verify spellings and even furnish original patent numbers for selected inventions. Copyright 1995.
