We teach a program of 90-minute classes:

PC basics (parts 1-3) & E-mail basics (parts 1-3)
Microsoft Works components: Word (parts 1-2), Excel (parts 1-2),

Periodically we offer digital photography, genealogy, Ebay and
a keyboard/mouse lab.

Alternative Health
Overview of online sources for learning about alternative health treatments. Special emphasis on evaluating medical Web sites.
Ancestry.com
Learn the features of this popular genealogy database. Special emphasis on Census records.
Back to School
Online subscription databases & reference help, K-College
Digital photography
Overview of camera features and settings and discussion of photo editing and storage. This is an intro level class. Bring your camera and cable(s) if you'd like to burn a CD of your pictures.
E-Bay basics
An overview of buying and selling on Ebay.
E-Mail Basics 1
Hands-on workshop helps you establish a free GMail account. Limited to 10 people.
E-Mail Basics 2
For people who have taken E-Mail Basics 1 or already have e-mail accounts. Learn how to send/receive attachments, create folders, and set up an address book. We recommend you take this class a month after the Basics 1 class. Limited to 14 people.
Easy, breezy posters: creating flyers and signs with Word
Learn how to make posters with borders and pictures. Requires basic familiarity with Word.
Excel 1
Learn how to create simple spreadsheets with MicroSoft Excel.
Excel 2
Spreadsheet & graphs. Requires Excel 1 or experience.
Genealogy
Genealogy: we'll talk about three genealogy databases (Ancestry, HeritageQuest and Jewish Data) and you'll have time to do some of your family research.

Using the "Start" button, working with Windows, creating icons & folders.
PC basics 3
Easy things to do using the Start menu: desktop background, screen savers, setting your Home Page, & creating Bookmarks/Favorites.
People, places & things: finding it fast on the Internet
Online phone books, company contacts, magazine articles, and quick facts. What are you looking for? Bring your examples and we'll look at them.
PowerPoint 1
Lean how to create a basic presentation from start to finish. REQUIRES: familiarity with PC basics and Word.
PowerPoint 2
Adding pictures, clip art and annotations to your presentations. If time permits, includes PowerPoint critique session.
Publisher intro
Learn how to create a basic trifold brochure with MicroSoft Publisher software. Requires familiarity with PC basics and Word.

Use this database to find company information and create custom lists. Excellent tool for job seekers, entrepreneurs, market researchers, and non-profit fundraisers.

Take a tour of the top web sites for finding information we all need every day. Sites are selected by our Reference staff.

Join us for a walking tour of the building and an introduction to all of the services we have to offer you - In the first part you'll learn about all of our departments; the second half includes a short overview of the online catalog and a recap of what we do - to be held in the training room.
Word 2010 Part 1
Learn how to type a simple letter in Word. We will cover beginning your document, adjusting fonts (typefaces, size, bolding), margins, printing, and saving, formatting, spell check, cut & paste, find & replace, font options, color, columns, & borders. We will also cover copy/paste text and pictures from the Internet.
Word 2010 Part 2
Lists (numbered, bullets), clip art, and review copy/paste text and pictures from the Internet. Formatting; find and replace; spelling and grammar using this practice document. Review and refresh everything we've learned in Word 1 and 2 PLUS cover e-mailing your documents as attachments.
