[OVERNIGHT PARKING] [TIPS ON TRAFFIC SAFETY]

POLICE SPOTLIGHT

The Florham Park Police Department is proud to announce it has 19 Officers qualified as EMT's (Emergency Medical Technicians) to assist our Florham Park Memorial First Aid Squad with medical emergencies.  In addition, the Department has recently purchased and equipped a First Response Vehicle through grant money provided by the State, which will be driven and manned 24 hours a day by one of the Department's EMTs at all times, and will be used to assist the Squad in any emergency.  A minimum of 120 hours of initial training is required to become an EMT, and Florham Park's Police Department boasts one of the highest percentages of trained EMTs in the State.

TRAFFIC ACCIDENT/COLLISION

The correct term to describe a so-called traffic accident is "collision".  In most cases, a collision occurs as a result of a violation of a traffic law whether, intentional or unintentional.  If you find yourself in a collision, here are some suggestions to make the experience as positive as possible.

 1. Call the police to have a report made.
 2. Always carry a pad & pen/pencil in your vehicle.
 3. Identify and be able to describe the other car and driver   involved. Get the license number and WRITE IT    DOWN!
4. Try to stay cool & calm - do not become engaged in an   argument with the other driver or passengers.  Too late to  cry over spilled milk now.
5. If possible, try to protect cars and passengers from any   further collision or damage.
6. Provide assistance to other parties.
7. Avoid discussing the collision with anyone except the   police.

TIPS from the Florham Park Traffic Safety Unit
 Things to remember when walking:
 1. Walk on the sidewalk if there is one.
 2. If there is no sidewalk and you have to walk on the road, be sure to walk facing traffic.
 3. Cross only at corners or marked cross walks.
 4. Stop at the curb or the edge of the road look left, then right, then left again before crossing.

Never dart out between parked vehicles or jaywalk

Be safe - brightly colored clothing makes it easier for drivers to see you during the daytime. At night you need to wear reflective material on your shoes, cap or jacket to reflect the headlights of cars coming towards you, and remember to walk with a flashlight for higher visibility.
Make eye contact with drivers as you cross the street to
ensure that they see you.
Remember that you may be able to see the vehicle, but the driver of the vehicle may not see you!

Overnight Parking - No person shall park a vehicle between thehours of 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. upon any Borough Street.
